• Local culture, flora and fauna being the main attractions

Ecotourism is, for many countries, the major industry of the national economy rather than an activity to finance protection of the environment.   As one would expect, reliance on an industry for economy creates political conflicts.

The cabin  has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a vaulted family room upstairs.  The upstairs  bedrooms, The Bear Room, The Moose Room, and the Deer Room, all have 2 queen beds each  and down bedding.   The Deer Room has a  private bath.   Upstairs there is also another  3/4 bathroom.    The family room has a  large leather sectional with queen sleeper bed and 2 recliners built in.   There is also a leather armchair, so plenty of comfortable choices exist to settle in for a movie or favorite show on the large flat-screen HDTV with satellite TV.  The family room also has a piano and karaoke machine for entertaining, and a game table which can also be used for additional dining space.

 On the main floor you’ll find a   bedroom, The Wolf Room, with one queen bed, and a children’s bunk room, “The Fishing Room” with 3 twin/full bunks .  This room also has a private  bathroom   with a shower.    The main floor has another full bath,  a fully equipped kitchen with 2 refrigerators and walk-in pantry, and a living room furnished with a leather sofa and club chair.   The living room has a free-standing gas fireplace as well.   Off  the living room is a  sunny   upper deck with gas BBQ grill and patio furniture.

 In the basement is  one bedroom, “The Autumn Room”, with one queen bed and one futon.  It also has  a billiards room, a children’s room with Nintendo, and a small library room with TV/DVD player, futon, and recliner.  Laundry  facilities   are also located in the basement , and there is one full bath in the basement as well.

 Just off   the basement is the lower deck,  and has a  patio table, lounge chairs, and a covered hot tub.   The cabin   is situated   on 1.5 quiet, wooded acres, with few neighbors.   There is   a lawn area on one side of the house where two sets of patio tables and chairs are kept.   There is also a large firepit with log benches, and even a half-court for basketball.

Island Park Idaho is home to the  headwaters   of Henry’s Fork of the Snake River, and is a  popular destination   for stillwater and fly fishing anglers alike.  it is also a popular hunting, hiking, and general outdoor recreation destination.  Golf, skiing, white water rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking snowmobiling and ATV riding are all popular  activities in the area. Henry’s Lake, Hebgen Lake  and Island Park Reservoir provide boating opportunities.   Also, due to its close proximity  to the west entrance of Yellowstone, Island Park is  a great base camp for Yellowstone exploration.

Plastic hose

This is a food grade plastic hose which measures approximately 5 feet in length. It is needed to transfer the beer from system to system, and it is imperitive that it is kept clean and free from damage or clogs

Bottling bucket

This is a large, food-grade plastic bucket with a tap for drawing water at the bottom, it needs to be as big as your primary fermenter, because you need the capacity to pour all the liquid from your primary fermenter into a bottling bucket prior to bottling up.

Bottles
 
After fermentation, you place the beer in bottles for secondary fermentation and storage. You need enough bottles to hold all the beer you’re going to make, the best kind of bottles are solid glass ones with smooth tops (not the twist-off kind) that will accept a cap from a bottle capper. You can use plastic ones with screw-on lids, but they arent as good for fermentation and dont look as well. Wheather you use glass or plastic bottles, make sure they are dark-colored. Light damages beer, i would recommend green or brown bottles.

Bottle brush

This is a thin, curvy brush which is used to clean bottles because of the the shape of the brush it makes it very affective at getting the bottle spotless. We haven’t even gotten into how clean everything has to be, but we will, and the bottle brush is a specialized bit of cleaning equipment that you will require in order to maintain your bottle kit.

Bottle capper

If you take buy glass bottles, you will need some sort of bottle capper and caps, of course, and you can buy them from any brewing supplies store. The best sort of bottle capper is one which can be affixed to a surface and worked with one hand while you hold the bottle with the other.

Thermometer

This is a thermometer which can be stuck to the side of your fermenter, they are just thin strips of plastic which are self adhesive, and can be found in any brewing supplies store, or from a pet shop or aquarium. Not everything costs money though even some household equipment can be used.

Valentine’s Day  El Día del Amor y la Amistad

As this fragment of a beautiful Aztec poem illustrates, since pre-Columbian times Mexicans regard friendship very highly, thinking of it a treasured gift of life.    These days in Mexico, as in the rest of the world, we celebrate on Feb 14 El Día de San Valentín Valentine’s Day) popularly named El Día del Amor y la Amistad the day of love and friendship.

While you are touring with Cabo San Lucas Real Estate looking at Houses in Cabo, you will notice all over town there are balloon vendors offering their colorful  heart shaped declarations of love, for most of them  have written on them “Te Amo” -I adore you- “Para mi amor“-for my love, or “Felicidades” congratulations.  Delightful candies, and flowers, especially red roses, and greeting cards are also offered in each store.

If in Los Cabos or various parts of Mexico, don’t even try to go to a eating place without having a reservation made weeks before.  Couples of all ages go out for supper on this special date. If you are staying in one of the many Cabo Villas, you may ask your property manager about the services of a chef or call one of the may establishments that offer you servicio a domicilio…. home delivery.  Your probabilities of getting into a eating place are much better if you consider the eating hrs of Mexican locals.  The comida which is the major meal of the day is eaten in between two and 4 in the afternoon.  Cena or supper is eaten, usually, after eight thirty or nine in the evening.

As you can see, El Día del Amor y la Amistad is commemorated in Mexico in a way very comparable to the manner in which the rest of the world celebrates with the exception of the tradition of the serenades  las serenatas.

These days, Mexicans have an extremely romantic way of expressing their love:  las serenatas. The boyfriend waits patiently for the sun to go down.  Then in the city’s plaza he hires a group of mariachis or a trio of singers with guitars, and goes to his girlfriend’s house.  There, on the road, underneath his loved one’s window, at one minute after midnight, they all start to sing the most romantic and heartfelt songs.

The goal of the serenata is to wake up the girlfriend, with songs that will touch her heart. The girl wakes up, but lets the musicians play two or 3 songs before looking from her window, while her boyfriend anxiously awaits.

At last the girl appears on her balcony, or window, which signifies that she is pleased, and approves of her boyfriend’s serenade. (You can be sure that no girl can resist such a sweet expression of love).  There will follow more romantic songs, and the boy, happy with his success will also sing while the musicians perform.

 If the parents of the girlfriend approve, they could also invite him in, and chat for a little while and offer refreshments.

In the meantime, the neighbors, that don’t play any part in this romance, will try to go back to sleep, while nostalgically remembering the serenades of their youth.
